A man invited friends to visit the home he had recently purchased. When they walked in, they were surprised to see lighted candles in every room. They wondered why he never turned on the lights, which hung at the center of every room, so they asked about the candles and why he never used the lights.

Reverse snowbird

How are you doing? I’ve seen better days and worse days; we are all mostly aiming for the middle. We can’t live on the mountain top, the air is too thin, nor in the valleys of life, for it would be more than one could bear! On the road of life, a ditch awaits us on both sides, travel safely!

Dear Editor, I wish to report a crime; the perpetrators are none other than those PC fixer-uppers who run around “improving” various hymns, stories, or other literary works produced by their betters. What gives those self-appointed authorities the right to rewrite someone else’s masterpiece?

I had the extreme pleasure this last weekend of celebrating the first trip around the sun for my adorable niece, Annie. She got thoroughly covered head to toe with her cupcake. Once she figured out it was edible, the thing went everywhere. Her cute outfit is likely ruined by the raspberry frosting.

Musings... There is light at the end of the funnel

No that is not a misprint; yes, I did mean to say funnel. Of course I know the usual saying is, “there is light at the end of the tunnel.” I feel that I have a very good reason to use the word funnel in this particular instance. I hope after you finish reading this column you will agree with me.

Dear Editor, Seat belts save lives. That’s the reason North Dakota’s law changed from secondary enforcement to primary+ enforcement on Aug. 1. Seat belts are the single most effective safety device to prevent death and injury in a motor vehicle crash.
