Fry bread tacos raise money for PCMH equipment By Hilary Nowatzki Folks gathered from near and far to pick up, or have delivered, hundreds of pre-ordered fry bread tacos from a recent fundraiser for Pembina County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, April 24. According to Kayce Schlittenhard, one of the many volunteers for the fundraiser, it takes a village to make fry bread! “The event went amazing!” said Schlittenhard.

It’s about that time The time has come for me to make all the preparations to return to our northern home. That means saying goodbye to my friends who live here year-round or will be here for a little bit longer than me, getting the house ready to be closed up for the summer, and rounding up and packing what I will be bringing back home with me.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

As summer approaches and the sun is shining longer, life can feel a little bit easier to handle for some. Even with the seasons changing, it’s still important to remind ourselves of the prevalence of mental health challenges and the importance of conversations surrounding mental health. In 2021 in North Dakota, 28.8% of adults reported experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression, and 19.4% of those people said that they were unable to get much needed counseling or therapy; roughly 6,000 of our North Dakota youth, ages 1217, have depression (NAMI, 2021.)

4-H Communication Arts

2024 Pembina County Communication Arts held Friday, April 26 at Valley-Edinburg School in Crystal. There were 33 different presentations in this public speaking contest from 30 4-H youth representing five different Pembina County 4-H clubs. Family and friends were also able to be a part of the experience.
