We had a great time at Riverfest last Saturday. It’s not my first time going, but it was the first time I was there with my kids. It was also the first time I watched the parade instead of driving in it.

I did not take a single picture all weekend, if I felt like skipping an event I did. I missed several things I normally would have never dreamed of missing. I dawdled when I felt like dawdling. When I was too warm I sought out some shade or, better yet, air conditioning.

MY TWO CENTS /WHAT I DID ON MY SUMMER VACATION

As you have been reading over the past couple of weeks I had a week long vacation planned with family on Sanibel Island, Florida. As you learned last week, two days before our departure, I took a step off my front porch, rolled my ankle and broke a bone in my foot.

On Monday afternoon Lynette Restemayer of Cavalier came to visit Saralee Hoselton; Saralee took her out for supper at Hastings Landing. On Wednesday evening Saralee Hoselton took Catie Hoselton of Richardton and Ken and Liz Linster out for supper at Hastings Landing.

Growing up, weather was not really much of a focus of our daily lives in the suburbs. The only time it mattered was during vacations when either mountain skiing or ocean fishing was priority. Forward to living on a farm in North Dakota where weather IS the topic of every day.

My Two Cents / What’s certain in life?

There’s one thing that’s certain in daily life. Nothing is ever certain. For a little more than a year my family, including our daughter, her family, and my wife’s sister, brother in law, and his family had planned a trip to Sanibel Island in Florida.
