We celebrate the birth of Jesus on December 25, but it is generally acknowledged that it is not His actual birth date. Celebrating Jesus’ birth is not a command in the Bible, but it is a good practice to follow. His birth, His life, and His death have changed human history for the good.

Senator Janne Myrdal | North Dakota District 19 Snow is falling, the Christmas tree is up, and cookies are baking in the oven (Norwegian heritage demands at least seven types be baked for Christmas). It is good to be at home when a blizzard is lurking outside.

A friend called me because she purchased a new Christmas cactus, and it wasn’t behaving the way she expected. Based on its cactus classification, she watered sparingly and placed the plant in direct sunlight. Despite this logical care regimen, the plant began to lose its flower buds and vigor.

My Two Cents | Tis the Season

This past weekend my wife Chris and I made the trip to Windom, Minnesota to visit my 86-year old mother and my sister and brother-in-law. The trip is a good six and a half hours, so that gave my wife and I plenty of time to visit.
