North Dakota School for the Deaf by Carol Wilson September 13, 2021 —On September 10, 1890, the North Dakota School for the Deaf was founded in Devils Lake. Only one student made an appearance on that first day of class, but by the end of the year 23 pupils were enrolled.

A lot has happened since then...

It is hard to believe that it has been twenty years since that fateful day in September. Now it has become a historical day to memorialize.

Do you remember....

Each year as the anniversary of 9/11 rolls around I can vividly remember the events of that day. It takes me right back to how I felt on that day and through the following week as we seemed to become a nation paralyzed by the events that happened on that Tuesday morning.

…and that is the scariest thought of all.

While the events of 9/11 2021 remain very clear in my mind twenty years later the events which occurred in the days that followed are clearer yet. Unfortunately, our nation as a whole seems to have forgotten many of the lessons we learned in the days after that tragic event.
