I would like to preface my first column in Valley News and Views by saying. I’m very happy to be here and writing for the Publication. I’m excited to help carry on the tradition of VNV and the superb job that Lyle and Lesa Van Camp have done over the years.

A student graduates. You are an oyster in a huge ocean. Looking in all four directions you see vaguely through the haze on the horizon, while the navigator is busy guiding the ship. Writing was not in life’s plan.

Bowesmont Lives

On Monday Saralee Hoselton and Phyllis Holter were among those eating lunch at the Sugar Bowl Senior Citizen’s Center. Saralee stayed for an afternoon of socializing. On the following day Lynette Restemayer of Cavalier picked up Saralee Hoselton and took her to supper at Hastings Landing.

May 30, 2022 — A “peculiar accident” was reported by the Fargo Forum on this day in 1902 that involved one fortunate little boy and one speeding passenger train. The incident occurred two days before near Glasgow, Montana, and concerned the Chamberlain family of Forest River, North Dakota.

Last week’s tragedy in Texas has started a new round of debates. There was again a huge tragedy in a school leaving many friends and family grieving the loss of loved ones. Every time that something like this happens it opens the debate about gun control.

I started my journey of newspaper ownership in September of 2014. In the beginning for the first couple of years I spent many long hours each day, working seven days a week wondering what I had gotten myself into.
