While we are still in Michigan, watching and waiting while Robert’s mom is in the hospice facility, we have tried to make the best of the situation, considering Theodore’s 16th birthday was May 8, the day we arrived in Michigan, and Amelia’s 14th birthday was May 19.

Okay, okay, not exactly. Last Thursday morning, we left Walhalla on a trip to Michigan, one we knew was coming but didn’t exactly know when. Robert’s mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in November.

In just a week or so, I have a trip to Wisconsin planned. The event is to happen over Memorial Day weekend.Several months ago my wife offered to help her brother open up his riverside resort near Trego, Wisconsin along the scenic and historic Namekagon River.
At this point, I want to clear the air on where I’m at mentally with all this broken back stuff. Aside from occasional aches and pains in the back, I’m fine. Look, I have NOTHING to complain about aside from having to navigate a very botched healthcare system.
