North Dakota crop progress and condition report

For the week ending April 6, 2025, there were 1.7 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Reports indicated that, on average, producers intend to begin fieldwork on April 24th.

Pembina County 4-H’ers participate in agronomy judging

Submitted by Kari Helgoe, Pembina County Extension Agent Pembina County 4-H had 11 youth actively participating in Agronomy Judging for the 2024-2025 4-H season. There were ten juniors and one senior with eight new youth joining the team and learning how to evaluate North Dakota crops.

The 69th Legislative Session has just completed 56 days out of the 80 allowed. There will be an effort to make sure we save at least five days for any need to come into a special session, - like the need to readjust the budget or any crisis that may come forth.

With each passing day there are more and more people in my park that are leaving to go back to their other homes. Some of the residents will not be returning next year. This winter I have seen more homes for sale in my community than in the time since we purchased our home here.

Dakota gardener: Water you growing?

Last summer I had an amazing opportunity to attend the National Urban Extension Leadership conference in Nashville, Tennessee. During the conference, I listened to a group talk about how they hydroponically grew lettuce in a gallon jug.

By Kelsey Deckert, Horticulture agent Each year the National Garden Bureau chooses plants of the year. I always look forward to which plants they pick and learning more about each one. This year among the chosen is Asclepias or milkweed.
