Dear Rusty: Last month I tried to contact Social Security who never picked up a phone on their end. The same with the IRS. When I finally got through, they said I had to join ID.me before they could help me. That took me over a week, and many applications and rejects, to get through.

Once a slogan of conservatives, especially those who were/are fans of William Buckley, this phrase basically means don’t try to make heaven on earth. Buckley brought the phrase to attention when he used it in an issue of “The National Review” decades ago.

It’s the end of January and where did the time go? It went fast, but I can feel that we have turned a corner. With the sunshine lately, and the extended hours of it, it sure feels like springtime, dare I say, is on the way to the great white north. Personally, I find that feeling energizing!

This week has been a doozy! I’m trying to do some extra reporting now, as I will be out for surgery on lefty starting Feb. 6. I prefer face to face interviews and attending things in person when I write.
