Last Friday and Saturday I took what I term a ‘whirlwind trip’ to Bismarck to take part in the North Dakota State Track Meet. I hadn’t been to a state meet since they held it at the old Memorial Stadium in Grand Forks where the Fighting Sioux used to play football before the Alerus Center.

Dear Editor, This letter is a gripe session. My number one pet peeve is the streets, the roads, the potholes; oh yes, that street is just one big pot hole! Just because I no longer drive a car doesn’t mean I am unaffected.

I didn’t grow up with any pets in the house. Not until I was in my mid-teens did we have any sort of animal in the house. That’s assuming my wild kid brother didn’t count. That changed one day when my mother decided to say yes to a small poodle when I found an ad for puppies in the newspaper.
