Over the years, I have visited with many people, regular church-going people, who have no assurance or confidence that when they die they will go to heaven. Their answer is something like this: “I hope so,” “I think I will,” or perhaps, “I don’t know; I guess I’ll have to wait and see.

What is the source? That is the question asked of Ben Franklin by George Whitefield in the movie “A Great Awakening” (Sight and Sound Films, 2026). Franklin had been demonstrating how he had harnessed lightning. He could name the components of his invention.

More than 1,800 students graduated from the University of North Dakota (UND) at ceremonies held in May.UND President Andrew Armacost presided over the spring 2026 general commencement on May 16, appropriately setting the stage for the big day.

North Dakota governor declares fire emergency amid drought

North Dakota Gov. Kelly Armstrong on Friday declared a statewide fire emergency as drought conditions have spread across the state.North Dakota also is activating the State Emergency Operations Plan as the risk of wildfires has intensified during a hot, dry summer.
