On Friday afternoon, emergency crews in Pierce County responded to the Buffalo Lake Recreation Area near Esmond after 18-year-old Ian Iverson of Hampden went under the water and did not resurface.
Onlookers located Iverson in the water and pulled him to shore. Lifesaving measures were attempted by responding emergency crews, but Iverson passed away at the scene.
