Rodney Puppe

Rodney Alan Puppe, 63, a lifelong Drayton, North Dakota resident passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 8th, 2021. Rodney was born in Grafton, ND on October 24th, 1957, the son of Willis and Bonnie (Harlow) Puppe. Rodney was baptized in the Lutheran faith.

He graduated from Drayton High School in 1976. On August 18th, 1979 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Tammy Dunford. The couple settled in Drayton and Rodney began a career at American Crystal Sugar Company. In 2017, he retired after 38 years.

Rodney was a man of few words, but was devoted to his wife and family.

Prior to their children, Rodney and Tammy enjoyed dancing every weekend and owning the Dairy Queen. He enjoyed making memories camping and traveling with his family. He also enjoyed taking motorcycle and ATV trips with family and friends. A great joy for him was spending time with his grandchildren and grandpups. As of recent, he enjoyed spending time at the lake. Most of all, Rodney was extremely proud of his children.

Rodney is survived by his loving wife, Tammy, of 42 years; his three children, Sarah and Tim Elde of St. Paul, MN, Alex, Justine, Paisley and Leah Puppe of Cando, ND, Spencer, Grace and Jake Puppe of Horace, ND; niece Tara, Chet, Blake (Felch), Regan, Summer, and Addison Carnevale of East Grand Forks, MN; siblings Dave (Nancy) Puppe, Terry (Craig) Anderson and Jolene (John) Gallagher; in-laws Wanda (Ken) Hodnefield, Wilma (Bob) Dunford, Dale (Brenda) Dunford and Anita (Tom) Johnson; many nieces and nephews.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents Willis and Bonnie Puppe, parents-in-law Tom and Betty Dunford and brother-in-law Doug Dunford.

Visitation will be held at the Drayton Lutheran Church on Thursday, October 14th, 2021 from 6pm-8pm with a prayer service at 7pm. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 15th, 2021 at 11:00am at Drayton Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Drayton City Cemetery, following lunch.
