Peter Marciniak, 62, a lifelong Drayton, North Dakota resident passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand forks on Monday, March 8, 2021. Peter Jacob Marciniak was born in Drayton October 22, 1958 the son of Steve and Ellen (Fitzgerald) Marciniak. Pete spent much of his youth in Bowesmont, North Dakota and lived with his family there from 1990 to 1997 when they moved to Drayton during the 97 flood. He graduated from Drayton High School in 1976. On February 12, 1982 he was united in marriage to Marjorie Beaudoin of Cavalier. Pete worked as a mechanic, farmed, was in the lawn care and landscaping business, owned and operated the Zoo Bar and the Red River Motel and Bait. He also had several other jobs throughout his working career. Pete had an independent spirit and enjoyed being his own boss. Pete married Denise Beito on April 25, 2014 in Drayton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his grandson and special buddy, Chris. “Papa Pete” was a kind and caring person who loved to laugh and always had a story to tell. He enjoyed his time at the lake and always made you feel welcome.
Family members include his wife, Denise; his children, Angela Marciniak, Grand Forks, Joseph Marciniak, Grand Forks and Sara (Dean) Boura, Drayton; his grandson, Christopher Marciniak, the light of his life; and a sister, Margaret (Carroll) Thomas, Bulloch County, GA; step children, Nick (Michelle) Beito, Jackie (Jeremy) Hicks, Tina Beito-Swiers, Jack (Leah) Beito; and step grandchildren, Avery Beito, Brayden and Autumn Beito and Phoebe Hicks. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Ellen; a sister, Ruthann; three brothers, Joe, Jackie and Max; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were scheduled for Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Austin Funeral Chapel, Drayton. A public visitation was held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will be held at a later date. Rev. Leroy Aufenkamp and Deacon Michael Grzadzielewski, presiding. Special music was provided by Jacki Hicks and Amber Brown, soloists and Renee Wahl, pianist.
