Curtis Parker, 70, a lifelong Drayton, North Dakota resident passed away at Unity Hospital in Grafton, North Dakota on Saturday, September 4, 2021. Curtis was born April 20, 1951 in Drayton, the son of Wesley and Dorothy (Siewert) Parker. He grew up in Drayton and graduated from high school there in 1969. After completing his education, Curtis entered the U.S. Army and was stationed for two years in Germany. He returned home and began working at American Crystal Sugar Company. On August 14, 1976 he was united in marriage to Cheryl Green at St. Thomas, North Dakota and settled in Drayton. Curtis worked for American Crystal 37 years. In retirement he enjoyed watching sports and attending the grandkids ball games. Curtis loved his family deeply and took much pride and joy in his grandchildren. He was a member of Drayton Methodist Church.
Family members include his wife of 45 years, Cheryl; children, Stephanie (Kevin) Kirkeby, Drayton, Tim (Tatum) Parker, Holcomb, KS and Amanda (Mike) Ryan, Drayton; a brother, Donald Parker, Madison, WI; and grandchildren, Gavin Kirkeby, Emma Kirkeby, Ella Parker, Mady Kirkeby and Luke Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Drayton United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date. Rev. Gary Johnson, presiding; Shirley VanCamp and Karen Schumacher will provide special music. Honorary pall bearers will be Curtis’ grandchildren.
