Carl Pokrzywinski

Carl Pokrzywinski, 84, of Drayton, North Dakota passed away at Altru Hospital on May 26, 2020 with his family at his side. Carl Max Pokrzywinski was born June 15, 1935 in Grafton, North Dakota to Maximillian and Edith (Kasprick) Pokrzywinski. He was raised on a farm near Drayton. Carl served with the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1958.

On June 15, 1959 he was united in marriage to Judith Knoff. The couple settled in Drayton and lived there until 1988 when they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. They returned to Drayton in 2016 to be closer to family.

During his working career, Carl worked as a long distance trucker, owned a local bar and worked for various farmers as a maintenance man.

During his time in Las Vegas he worked for Walmart until he retired in 2016. Carl spent the last couple of years as a resident of Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Judith; children, Debra (Mike) Hanson, Karlstad, MN, David (Pauline) Pokrzywinski, Drayton, Darren (Michelle) Pokrzywinski, Eden Prairie, MN, Dennis (Genafay) Pokrzywinski, Drayton and Denise (John) Cole, Drayton; grandchildren, Heather, Veronica, Maximillian, Christopher, Alexander, Daniellia, Rachel, Tyber, Ryan, Marissa, Damian, Aleah and Gavin; great grandchildren, Maximillian, Praise, AnaLena, RoseMary, Easton, Aspen, Pearce, Damian, Emeri, Chey, Tess, Casey and Amadeus; and a brother, Daniel (Virginia) Pokrzywinski, Drayton. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alice, Evelyn and Irene Rose; a brother-in-law, Jack Teem and a great grandchild, Tripp.

Private family memorial services were held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. in Austin Funeral Chapel, Drayton.
