On March 20, 1914, D.J. [Daniel Jacob] Laxdal died in St. Michael’s Hospital in Grand Forks. He was born in Iceland on April 9, 1866, to Grimur and Aldia Laxdal. After his father’s death, Mrs. Laxdal, five children by the father’s previous marriage, Daniel, and his sister moved to the Lake Winnipeg area.
