by Merry Helm December 6, 2021 — On this day in 1966, UND defeated Parsons 42-24, in the Pecan Bowl, to win the conference championship. UND linebacker Roger Bonk earned the Associated Press Little All-American honor – UND’s first – and quarterback Corey Colehour received an honorable mention.

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”, we assume it is safe to say that winter has officially arrived in our region. While the calendar still claims that it is Fall this past weekend’s storm makes it perfectly clear that winter is truly here.

Traditions is something that everyone has, whether they be birthday or holiday. They may surround what you have for food, how you decorate, or how you celebrate. They are what memories are made of. They also tend to change over time as each generation grows and forges their own life.

So, as I told my bride, here we go again.

Surgery? Why not? I mean, after all it has been well over a year since the last time I went under the knife. In June I started noticing some pain in my left groin area whenever I did any real physical work. The answer seemed easy enough, don’t do any physical work. Problem solved, correct?

Nothing Is Funny In This Humorless Era

It is obvious that we are now in a humorless era. Nobody is laughing, even when people who slip on the ice. It is dangerous to bring up a new idea because it would be divisive. I’ll bet if the Republicans came out for sex, the Democrats would be against it. Or vice versa.

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor, Some of us will remember “the Big C” and other code words said in whispers to refer to the bogey man, Cancer. While it’s still serious and sometimes fatal, it’s certainly not shameful or secret to have it. People used to think they’d “catch” cancer by being close to someone who had it.
