Should I Claim Early Due to Social Security’s Financial Condition?

Dear Rusty: I plan on retiring at 62, one year from now. I have been coached to (if financially possible) leave my Social Security earnings for my wife to collect in the future if I die, considering that she was a homemaker for the majority of her income earning years.

The Contender

Rocky Marciano retired from professional boxing in 1956 which left the World Heavyweight Boxing Title vacant. A couple of contenders of that era had to face off to gain the championship belt. One of those contenders was a young Floyd Patterson who previously had a prolific amateur boxing career.

Monday March 28th Saralee Hoselton joined the ladies at the Sugar Bowl Senior Citizen’s Center for an afternoon of socializing. Later that afternoon Lynette Restemayer of Cavalier picked up Saralee and took her to Hastings Landing for supper.

Recently I have depended more heavily on others to help with providing content for Valley News & Views. I am very grateful for everyone who has been willing to step in and step up to help out. This has truly put the community back into our community newspaper.
