Dakota Gardener: A thankful gardener

The gardening season has officially ended. Hopefully, you have everything ready for winter and are ready to enjoy the holiday season.As I prepare for the holiday season, I am also taking time to reflect on the improvements needed and the success of my garden this growing season.

My brother and my father-in-law were born on the same day, Dec.4. My brother would have turned 76 on that day, and my father-inlaw would have been one year shy of being a centenarian. I said “would have” because both died unexpectedly several years ago.

As we went through another Thanksgiving, I was reminded of all I had to be thankful for. I was also reminded that this thankfulness is not only for a day or a season.My thankfulness should be a thing of constant thought and in all my prayers.

As I drive through the streets, I notice that it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Decorations are going up inside and outside of our homes. Gifts are being ordered and bought. Yummy goodies are being prepared. Concerts and parties fill our calendars.
