Whooping Crane Migration

Whooping cranes are in the midst of their spring migration and sightings will increase as they make their way through North Dakota over the next several weeks. Anyone seeing these endangered birds as they move through the state is asked to report sightings so the birds can be tracked.

Looking Back in Time

Drayton Echo Ray Gilroy and Fred Gense went up to Joliette Friday evening and returned Saturday by dog train. The boys drove the bird dog belonging to Hilmer Lindberg and made good time. They said they had a good trip but were a little tired when they arrived in the city.

North Dakota anglers, trappers and hunters are reminded that new licenses for the 2020-21 season are required beginning April 1. Licenses can be purchased online by visiting the North Dakota Game and Fish Department website, gf.nd. gov.

Boys’ Regional Tournament

By Grant Vold Monday this week was the Boys’ Regional Basketball Tournament at the Betty Englestad in Grand Forks. Our Drayton-Valley-Edinburg team played the North Border Eagles, and before our team left school for the game, there was a pep rally in the hallway for them.

Bomber Speech Travels to Central Valley

The Drayton Bomber speech team competed at the Central Valley Invitational on Saturday, March 13. Five students from Drayton participated in this meet and all placed in at least one event. Senior Emma Barta and Junior Jayden Sherrill placed 5th in the category of Serious Dramatic Duo.
