Musings... “Weighing in” as the new year begins by Lyle Van Camp

Good morning, it is 10:00 a.m. on Dec. 31s in sunny, warm Mesa, Arizona. The current temperature is 53 degrees. Once it warms up a little more I think I will go for a walk. As I write this, I am sitting in my recliner by the sliding door that leads to our little patio, drinking in the sunshine.

Oh for the love of food! If you read my column last week you’d know that there were two new items on my family’s Christmas menu. Brisket, which turned out to be extremely great thanks to my brother-in-law’s mad smoker skills, and copy-cat Panera mac and cheese, which I tried out for the first time.
