Joliette Township Roads

Joliette Township has a policy pertaining to farm and commercial activity concerning Township roads maintained with public funds when mud or other debris is placed upon a roadway.

This objective is to minimize deposits from the roadway that may constitute a road safety hazed for roadway users. This condition can be accelerated in adverse weather.

A farmer or contractor must make effort to prevent mud or other debris from being deposited on a township roadway. Proper use of an advanced warner signs such as “Mud on Roadway” or “Slippery Road,” inform public of travel hazards.

Cleaning a roadway must be completed as often as necessary, and at the completion of the operation in question. Labor, equipment, and material costs associated with replacing gravel in order to ensure public safety and to restore the roadway to pre-harvest and commercial use conditions, completed by the township will be billed to the owner, renter, or contractor.

If said bill is not paid within three consecutive months, the bill will be turned over to the Pembina County Auditor for collection. This policy is in accordance with ND Century Code 24-06-28/29 enacted 08.01.2011.

Joliette Township Supervisors strive to minimize travel danger and maintain road safety.
