Farming and farm communities

I grew up on a ranch; cattle and horses, saddles and soap, hats and boots. We rarely turned soil in our hay fields, we had an inter-seeder that planted our alfalfa, clover and timothy seeds. When matured, we cut, dried, and baled hay for winter feeding. We watched the weather and made plans accordingly. Calving season arrived in early spring and there was plenty to tend to with babies...
