Well, as I write this column, the Iran – United States conflict continues.In a normal political climate, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle would have by now coalesced behind our military action and have shown solidarity while our troops are in harm’s way overseas.

I left you last week as the Simmons family was enjoying an afternoon outing on a private tour boat charter in the local waters near Anna Maria Island on the Gulf side of the Florida coast. Our boat captain and tour guide, all rolled into one, was the affable Captain Kenny.

I last left you canal side at the wonderful rental condo we shared with our son and daughter-in-law near Anna Maria Island on the Florida Gulf. It was a little before 2 p.m. that faithful Tuesday when our private tour boat navigated the canal, pulling up behind our rental unit.
