As I sit here typing my column for the week, I’m actually taking a little break from fishing all morning. I’ve got to leave a few of them for the boys. My grandpa said he was going fishing today while we were chatting over dinner the night before. Naturally, I invited myself.

Not the Weekend we had Planned… Friday afternoon, just after dinnertime, one of my father’s nurses at Valley Senior Living called to tell me that dad had lost consciousness shortly after eating his meal and that they were taking him to the emergency room.

Real men don’t get pedicures. I think that is a pretty safe statement for the majority of the red-blooded male population of the United States. I would guess that holds true, especially for those of my generation.

Throughout my brief 30 years on this earth I’ve been fortunate enough to behold more experiences than I can count in the stars.

Surprise! To be honest I am just as surprised to be seen in this space as all of you are to see me. As you have undoubtedly noticed, the title of this column is no longer, “Looking Down Main”. Looking Down Main was the editor/(former) publisher’s column.

I would like to preface my first column in Valley News and Views by saying. I’m very happy to be here and writing for the Publication. I’m excited to help carry on the tradition of VNV and the superb job that Lyle and Lesa Van Camp have done over the years.
