North Dakota Council on the Arts (NDCA) announces the addition of Kierstin Hurtt of Hoople to its board of directors, representing Region 4 — the northeast corner of the state.Recently appointed by Governor Armstrong, Kierstin will serve a five-year term, ending July 2030.

Fire destroys Hoople potato warehouse

Several area fire departments were called to battle a fire at a potato warehouse in Hoople on Wednesday, Oct. 15.According to the Walsh County Public Information Office, 9-1-1 dispatchers in Walsh County received a call regarding the fire at 12:14 p.m.

I don’t usually get the typical creepy-crawly feeling when it comes to wildlife, excluding snakes and very large spiders. However, a few weeks ago, I stumbled across a creature I had not encountered in person. This small, furry creature was close to making me turn tail and run away…it was a bat.
