Titans see track action in last day of April and first week of May

The Titans managed to see some different competition and battle some interesting weather conditions to end the month of April and to start the first week of May. The Titans traveled to Wahpeton to attend the OJ & Dee Jensen Kiwanis Invitational and were greeted with stiff winds and heavy rain in the early middle of the meet.

Titans attend a pair of track meets in the second week of May

The weather forced the cancellation of the RRVC meet early in the week, but nice weather allowed for some very quality performances later in the week. The Titans traveled to Cavalier for the Grizzly Invitational on May 9. Junior, Brady Reilly got it done in the 400 dash running a state qualifying time and personal best of :51.93 winning the event. Brady set a new Drayton Valley Edinburg record in the event beating his own mark of :52.29 set in 2023. Alyssa Hoyles cleared the pole vault bar again at 10’0” placing second; tying her school record vault. Other top performances at the Grizzly Invite include Elizabeth Fedje first in the 400 dash at 1:00.93 and team mate Greta Burrell second with a time of 1:06.23. Gavin Ryan was second in the 110 hurdles and Fedje won the 300 hurdles with an impressive :46.38 time. Fedje took the red ribbon in javelin at 109’0”, with Hoyles third at 97’11”. Brooke Gullickson was sixth at 91’1”. The boys won the 4X200 relay Cater Johnson, Carter Oberg, Charles Kittelson and Reilly at 1:39.46. Oberg won the high jump with a 5’6” jump. The girls 4X400 relay placed second with Burrell, Easton Larson, Hoyles and Fedje finishing at 4:27.57.

Results from the Grafton Invitational Track Meet

The Titans had a small crew attend the Grafton Spoiler Invitational Outdoor on April 12. With the warm temperatures, and low moisture in the area the Pembina County Indoor scheduled for April 13th was canceled, as teams took advantage of the nice early spring weather for the first time in many years. The meet featured 18 teams and a huge number of excited track and field athletes anxious to start the outdoor season.

The Drayton/Valley-Edinburg Titans hit the track hard on April 5, 2024 at the Fritz Pollard Athletic Center on the Campus of UND. The Red River Valley Conference Indoor featured some the top talent in North Dakota Class B track and field.

Nonresident any-deer bow applications after April 15 The North Dakota Game and Fish Department will have 337 anydeer bow licenses available to nonresidents in 2024. Applicants can apply online after April 15 on the Game and Fish website, gf.nd.gov.
